Title: Future campaigns
Post by: medwards10 on November 25, 2013, 12:25:59 am
Let's discuss what we want to do/see in our future campaigns HERE

Plans? Ideas? Crazy-ass plots with Italian cyborg assassin girls? Let's hear 'em.

Quarians. Because the Quarians are the only people whose first contact with me in the game didn't Irk me (except Wrex, but Krogan can't hold a candle to the family tradition I see in the Migrant Fleet).

Mr. Charles, I do approve of you. <3 quarians <3

And as for future campaigns, we do have a few ideas.
1 being a civil war based on the unrest established in the vid gaems
2 being a Terminus-system-based storyline involving a heist, the victim being Aria (BREAK THE ONE RULE)

I highly recommend looking into this fic if we want to do an alternate timeline adventure. Basic ideaL What if the Batarians found Humanity first?

As for Civil War? Nothing but yes, yes, and more YES.

I took the entirety of it and saved it as a pdf. I wish I had gotten the authors notes in retrospect, so that'll be a project on a cold day next month.

Something with quarians would be fun, same thing goes for civil war. Although combat might get a bit interesting when we have 6 people writing about the same scene. No one pointed out the GSG reference : (

How about something set during first contact. *spitballs*

We mods aren't completely making this up as we go. >:L

only problem with first contact: The lack of quarians

Ooh! Human Frigate in the first contact war. Us taking on as members of the crew and senior staff, we agree upon beforehand who the captain is. One or two man DM party creating the battle scenarios and the results of our actions.

hmmm. True.

HOW ABOUT...

ROLL WITH ME HERE...

The mother. ****. Morning. War.

Council politicians, Geth shooting Quarians, Geth Helping Quarians, Quarians Shooting Geth, Quarians shooting Quarians!

'tis a tale of intrigue to last throughout the ages!

Also I vote CAPTAIN LORD ADMIRAL SIR NOZZIVIX as captain.

I want this. I also demand a scene in which the Turian councilman says, "Ah yes, 'Intelligence'. We have dismissed such claims."

Am I the only  one who doesn't really like the quarians as a race?

You might be Duran; quite a few of us are Tali fans.

I'm personally pro-civil war/unrest.  Not necessarily a full blown civil war; what about some sort of Boer war type conflict or colonists vs colonists on a jointly colonized planet.

But that's just me.

Never said I wasn't a Tali fan.  Tali was always my Shepard's romance option.  I'm not a fan of the quarians as a whole though.  They basically spent 1000 years floating through space because they were too damn stubborn to just say, "oh damn! we done **** up. Maybe we were kind of a bunch of ****."

It might stem from pre-existing viewpoints on other nomadic peoples, like Gypsies, who have reputations for being thieves and kidnappers.

As for the Boer war type, that sounds like something that we'd find in the early days of the Alliance colonizing planets, running into Batarians once or twice when both colonized the same one. I'd prefer Turians, but they'd have little interest in colonizing a levo world, as we would a dextro. Such planets would be traded to other sides for economic and political benefit, or strip mined for useful resources and abandoned.

300*

And I don't believe Legion's lies. The Geth spent 300 years blowing up any ship that came near the veil and displaying the corpse-filled husks at the edge of the veil as a macabre warning.

I don't even know Where I found this.

I'm with Nozz.  It seems like quite a jump from ME 1 to ME 2 of a minority being hostile when ME 1 tells us Geth were sending ships of husks back.  But That's not for here.

I'm seeing a possibility for colonial conflict 15-20 years post war, just as a possible spreading the species out in case of a future conflict.  Plus there already is at least one planet with a co-habitation between Bats and Humans where there was conflict before the war.

Quote
A garden world with heavy populations of humans and batarians, Anhur was home to one of the ugliest violations of sapient rights in modern human history. A consortium of corporations and corrupt politicians, fearing batarian economic competition due to their custom of legal slavery, passed a resolution that abolished the minimum wage - effectively relegalizing slavery on a human-dominated world.
Opponents of the motion quickly turned to activism and violence. A civil war erupted as one side sought to end slavery throughout the system and the other, primarily a batarian faction called the Na'hesit, sought to keep the slaves they had. The Anhur Rebellions raged from 2176 to 2178. The Na'hesit had a significant advantage in ships, labor, and weapons, forcing the Anhur militias to hire mercenary companies to even the odds. In the end the abolitionists won out, though at the cost of much of their infrastructure. Though Anhur today still has significant natural wealth, it is economically depressed save for the reconstruction industry.

I'm sorry, but what moron made up that history? Repealing the minimum wage somehow legalizes slavery? That's just going to get rid of requiring a business to pay some jobs more than they're worth.

Welcome to bioware, amazing Macro story, but the micro falls apart due to less time spent on it.

I mean, Kai Leng the Cereal Ninja made it past QA, so why not this?

Yeah, it's kind of a stretch...but that's sadly canon.

So for ideas, we have:

1. Anything to do with Quarians. Possibly morning war.
2. War of some description. with all Characters part of the same crew.

personally, I would love to see some scenario where Samuil could somehow not kill everyone else's characters. I'd love to see what happens when He has to work with people and people have to work with him.

I like the Terminus system havoc idea. Havoc is generally an interesting thing to have. Unless somebody wants to write about how "This one feels like a flower."

Of course, crushing skulls shouldn't be a focus unless you want to tend to your psychopatic dreams about joyous death and suffering.
Not sure how we would need to set the details though.

Phah, what would you do without the annoying pessimistc cynical black wolf? You would cry yourself to sleep without me  ;D
Do not worry Rev. I won't leave   :)

Anyway, the Aria heist idea is interesting, the issue is that, if we are being honest with chances of the characters actually surviving it would be around 0.01 %, considering Aria knows how the system works and unless we out of the sudden get 1 commander Derpurd running around the chances stay low at all times.

The Terminus system havoc is more... logical, and more survivable considering we have merc bands, freelances and other unorganised vermin bumping into each other at every turn.

We could pull an Oceans Eleven for the Omega Heist. Lots of security, use of looking like you're supposed to be there. Very dramatic. I don't know how vault security would work, my academic training not in architecture or security designs, but I'd be willing to give creating it a shot.

I feel like the Ocean's Eleven style heist would require too much of a prewritten script though.

Unless we did it very well. Honestly, I think we'd have to save that for later on. When we have more users and a more steady post per whateverunitoftime.

All this talk of the morning war though makes me want to resurrect Durandal...Not the body snatching demigod part mind you, just the psychotic whirlwind of chaos part.  Though I don't know how well he'd work as a Geth seeing as his big flaw was his ability to feel emotions, yet simultaneously be unable to cope with them.

Durandal always bothered me with the fact that he was so ridiculously OP when compared to all the other characters in the CNRverse. At least until everything increased in scale while I sat around stabbing people or writing Quarian light drama depending on which profile I signed into the night before.

Some sort of heist would be a good opportunity to get the hang of writing combat and maybe make some merc characters.

Yeah. I think having to keep with Durandal burned out some people, or at least discouraged them. I wanted to bring Katrin and Zo'Zixx into the CNRVerse for ages, but it's hard to write stories about a doctor or a magician when you have doomsday robots wandering about.

And we all know what happened to McGarry.

I have to admit, he did get too hard to handle.  I started with the idea of him, and he sort of spiraled out of control.  But it's still my belief that a good super villain should not be able to be defeated by one hero alone.  What can I say, when you have a setting as epically expansive as Mass Effect, I am not interested in writing about the adventures of "crewman number 5."  I also made it a point to keep him at the same level as the Prophet.  The only reason he seemed worse than the Prophet was because throughout the entire course of CNR I knew what the Prophet was and exactly how powerful he was where....you guys didn't, and I made no attempt to hide things about Durandal.

And McGarry tried waaaay to hard to keep up with Durandal.
