The Story Board. / Child of the Broken Mind. (Epilogue)
« on: February 16, 2014, 02:18:12 pm »
Kat sighed into her drink as she finished off the dark liquor. She'd lost a lot in the last year, and wasn't exactly sure where to go from here. The money Exo-Geni had already given her was enough for Katrin's goal, a rebuilt Colt in the same place as before, the very place Kat sat now. It was the least she could do for the old Neurotic, especially when she was the reason Kat even could be sitting in a pub, wallowing. She'd returned to Katrin's job as head surgeon at Huerta, but most of her free time was spent here.

Gods Katrin, what'd you do to me?

There was no answer. Of course there wouldn't be. Katrin died on the planet. At least... Kat thought she did. It was hard to tell with split personalities. For all she knew, she wasn't even Kat anymore, yet she remembered being Kat, and not Katrin. Of course, all of the legal paperwork still had Katrin's name on it. When that... bug. Climbed into their mind, Katrin did... something. She'd said she was 'letting go'. Before Kat could even say anything to stop her, she was gone. Of course, so was the Queen, the telepathic link backfiring and buying them time to escape the hive. She had no idea what had happened between her abduction and her rescue, and Ivix had been loathe to tell her.

Speak of the devil. She thought as the Quarian shouldered the pub door open.

"Oi! Mickey!" She called out to the young man behind the bar. Mickey had been Sean's kid brother, a ten year difference between them. He'd been squirreled away to Ireland during the Reaper invasion, and Kat had made a point to find him when she rebuilt the Colt. While she was on the Citadel, Mickey was in charge, like she remembered him wanting to way back in the day. "The SPECTRE's back, get us the usual, will ya?"

"Gotcha Doc!" Came the response as he started filling glasses from two very distant taps.

"He still calls you Doc, then?" Ivix asked as he sat down, popping off his helmet with a hiss.

"Eh, he wants to call me it, he can." Kat replied, moving her now empty glass to the side. "What brings you here?"

"What? Can't a guy visit his ex to make sure she's recovering well?" he said jokingly.

"Hey hey Mr. Spectre, how come I never heard from you for about five years, if that was the case?" she shot back as the drinks arrived and Mickey went into the back.

"Hmm. So what's with the memorial wall?" He said, pointing with his head. "The picture's nice, but the plaque? 'In memory of Katrin Ilnata, Sean and Mitch Connor, the first to enter, the last to leave'"

"Hey, I'm just the grieving twin here, remember?" she said, taking a sip of her drink.

"I still think it's a little weird."

"Hey, be grateful you got me. She hated you back in the day. Remember when I left in the middle of the night and left you with the Hotel Bill?" Kat asked slyly.

"Alright, I get the message. So, you're alright? No sudden need to lay eggs and conquer the galaxy?"

"Not a one. How's that SPECTRE stuff coming along?"

"Eh, basically the same as before. I pretty much get paid to wander across the galaxy on one long pub crawl until something important happens."

"Sounds fun."

"Mmm." He said noncommittally, taking a massive swig of his own drink. "There's problems on this pirate planet in the middle of nowhere, Rouger, or something, but since it's just Pirates and Terrorists, the council's content to let them fight it out. It's not technically our jurisdiction, after all."

"Hmm. Rouger... I've heard of it. A nice little desert planet. You know... If you're ever in the mood for a little cold-blooded-"

He cut her off. "I'll let you know."

Character Creation / Kara McAllistair of the Sukuu
« on: December 23, 2013, 11:08:11 pm »
Full name of Character: Kara McAllistair

Race: Human

Gender: Female

Social class: Sukuu Shinobi, freed slave

Class: Infiltrator

Physical Appearance: Standing at 5'9, Kara was prized as a concubine during her time as a slave, with a soft face framed by long crimson hair and a graceful-looking body.

Age: 21

Eye Color: Green

Hair color length and style: Long and red, normally contained within her hood on missions.

Skin tone and type: Soft and SCOTTISH TONE! MWAHAHAHAHAHA

Distinguishing marks: A small scar marks the back of her neck, where her old Slave Chip used to dwell.

Personality: Hates violence, and is terrified of strange men. She tends to be timid until her switch is flipped. Loves animals.

Greatest Strength: Her compassion for those around her.

Greatest Weakness: The possibility of recapture.

Soft spot: Fluffy Animals. FLUFFY GOD DAMNED ANIMALS OF CUTE.

Biggest Vulnerability: Her past enslavement.

Personal History(what affects them): Born to a Landowning Noble family in Scotland, Kara McAllistair enjoyed a rich childhood unaware that her parents had gotten themselves in over their heads with some rather  unsavory characters, simply to keep their heads above water. To pay their many debts, some generations old, the McAllistairs slowly began selling off everything they had, until their one remaining possession was their 6 year old Daughter, Kara. Threatened with death unless they sold her, the McAllistairs were forced to give their daughter to a cruel slave master. The guilt destroyed them, and they were found dead a year later from self-inflicted bullet wounds in a homeless shelter in Glasgow. Young Kara, however, did not receive the same mercy. She was worked to the bone for five years, until she started to... develop. Seeing potential, the slavemaster quickly sold her to a rich Batarian general, where she served as his concubine until his eventual assassination by his successor. Kara bounced from master to master for years, serving as a concubine and fostering a deep fear of men until she entered the service of Maeve Killegrew. In truth, Maeve had simply taken Kara as spoils from a raid and planned to later sell her, but as a concubine, the slave girl had learned a great deal of Naval tactics and diplomacy from watching her many Military and Diplomatic masters and proved a valuable asset to her mistress' crew. The slave and her mistress never exceeded a strictly business relationship, but Kara was grateful. All she knew, is that she was happy not being made into a sexual possession, valued for something other than her looks. The Slave even assisted in getting Maeve to Rouger, under Analdrun's employ. Of course, that's where the trouble started. At age 18, Kara seemed to tickle something within the Hanar, and he demanded ownership. Absolutely terrified, Kara pleaded with her mistress not to hand her over. But Maeve's frozen heart thawed not for the pitiable slave, and escorted her to Analdrun's chamber, and left her there. But, before Analdrun's greasy tentacles could touch her, Maeve returned, the three guards dead behind her. And though the hanar cried out in horror, Kara's mistress ran Kara through, and Kara thought she met death that night. She awoke in a tiny medic's facility, to quiet voices. When she stood, amazed at being alive, Maeve put a small chip in her hand, Kara's slave chip. Passage to Omega was arranged. On her way, however, Kara came across a Drell slave being attacked by Slavecatchers, who were using the storm to 'recover property'. Without thinking, the Scotswoman leaped into the fray, taking out one with a swift punch to the spine and turning to face the others. She and the Drell, who she later learned was named Asa, fought bravely but were soon overpowered. Fearing that she had come this far to fail, Kara closed her eyes. When they opened, she saw three figures with short blades standing in the rain. After cutting the Slavecatchers down, their Leader approached them, a Drell with a wicked scar on his cheek: Gaijin Sukuu. He offered to train them as Shinobi for their bravery, and not long after, she and Asa graduated as Sukuu Shinobi. While Asa excelled in fighting, Kara became a brilliant strategist and infiltrator, sticking to her strengths.

Traits:

Optimist or pessimist? Optimist, to a point.

Introvert or extrovert? Introvert

Drives and motives: To avoid recapture and possibly regain her family's land.

Talents: Blending into a crowd

Character flaws: Just too god damned shy. She'd rather hide behind Enemy lines and befriend them than fight them.

Character Creation / Alec Morgan
« on: December 18, 2013, 11:13:42 pm »
Full name of Character: Alec 'Captain' Morgan

Age: 32

Eye Color: dark red (synthetic)

Hair color length and style: Black, left to sit wherever, but relatively short.

Skin tone and type: caucasian and smooth. A good deal of it is likely synthskin.

Distinguishing marks: Other than the eyes, both arms are cybernetic, and obviously so, The synthskin is imperfect and grafted onto his body at the shoulder.

Personality: Cold when he needs to be, psychopathic when he wants, Alec Morgan has a habit of running his mouth during combat.

Greatest Strength: Insane unpredictability.

Greatest Weakness: Easily goaded.

Soft spot: Sandra, his favourite pistol and Clara, his scottish claybeg.

Biggest Vulnerability:Can't resist a challenge, will sometimes go against, or more than, what he was paid for if he sees fun in it. (He calls these Extra Credit.)

Personal History(what affects them): Born in Scotland, Alec Morgan was born into a military family. His father died in a skirmish when he was seven, but not before instilling a strict code of honour in his son. A code of honour that he promptly abandoned when he went mercenary. When he joined the alliance military, he stole his father's old Claybeg and pistol, the items that would later be 'aids' to his madness. Shortly after his training, his superiours noted his strange... affinity for killing people. During the Reaper War, he took a glancing blast from Harbinger, destroying his arm, damaging his eyes, and burning a lot of his skin. While he lay in the dirt, something snapped inside his mind. The sword and pistol on his hip started cheering him on, telling him the way back to his comrades. Shortly after receiving his mechanical arm, eyes, and a lot of synthskin, he was deemed clinically insane and confined to Bedlam. While he was locked away, he could hear his pistol and sword calling to him from 'Patient Storage'. Breaking out, killing a good deal of people, and recovering Clara and Sandra, he stole a ship from the dock and decided to go Mercenary. After modifying his arm into a deadly weapon, including a small calibre pistol built into his index finger, he began taking jobs across the galaxy, building an arsenal and upgrading his ship, travelling and killing with Sandra and Clara.

Traits:
Optimist or pessimist? Optimist
Introvert or extrovert? Extrovert
Drives and motives: MURDER TIME FUN TIME!
Talents: Murder and Fun.
Character flaws:Did I mention he's mad?

Canon and Discussion / The Three Clans of Lokyan
« on: December 17, 2013, 11:42:21 am »
Alongside his normal army of Pirates and Mercs, Lokyan's wife Hyun has trained three clans of warriors in the Shinobi arts and Bushido. Regarded as ninja due to their shinobi training, the clans are much closer to Ronin Samurai than true ninja. As nano-woven blades have been shown to penetrate Barriers and Shields, and certain types of hardsuit, swords have come back into vogue with pirates, and ancient sword techniques have been adapted to modern combat.

The Sukuu Clan (The Freed): Based around Stealth and Technology, the Sukuu specialize in Assassination and infiltration. They tend to carry a Locust SMG and a traditional Tanto blade, though some carry a longer Wakizashi into longer battles where sword fighting is possible. Their omni-tools are modified based on the user's preference, but they tend to prefer a concealed pistol, or derringer, attachment followed by incinerates and toxin deployment.

The Yokaze Clan(The Night mist/wind): The Yokaze are biotic specialists, having combined their Stealth training with biotic power. They wield whatever blade fits each Yokaze's style, but the standard is a Medium-length Wakizashi with a powerful pistol in reserve, yet they prefer to use biotics.Their repertoire includes powerful invisible barriers, mild cloaking, and the means for their name. Skilled Yokaze shinobi can agitate the air in a battlefield, creating a biotic mist that brings visibility down to  near zero, though it removes them from battle since it requires so much concentration. The Yokaze serve as mystics and strategists, many of the freed slaves that become members having been Asari as old as Matriarch, as well as Biotic slaves being used in both gladiatorial and mercenary combat throughout the galaxy.

The Shikaeshi Clan(The Resistance/Revenge):  The Shikaeshi are the more combat-oriented Shinobi clan, for those that prefer honourable combat  to sneaking around.  They serve as the 'police force' of Kalihir, and are the frontline soldiers when conflict breaks out. They carry long Nagamaki blades, or Naginata for ceremonial purposes, though a few have developed methods to use the spear in combat. In open combat, they carry assault rifles or shotguns, depending on the user. The original Shikaeshi ninja were augmented for strength, due to backgrounds in heavy labour and Gladiatorial combat, this increased strength allowed them to use the long and heavy Nagamaki blades with ease. Newer members of the clan undergo this same augmentation, though a more refined and painless process, as part of tradition, thanks to Katanask Technologies.

The three clan Leaders were all rescued in the same slave raid, and proved themselves extremely talented in training. When the time came, they founded their own clans based off their own specializations, and named them based on their own beliefs.

Gaijin Sukuu:  Born into slavery, Gaijin Sukuu was never given a name, nor did he ever meet his family. As such, he had no contact with other Drell until he met Lokyan. He was forced to work on dangerous engineering and tech jobs for his master, and frequently tried to escape. One of his escape attempts resulted in his cruel master running a blade down the entire left side of his face, leaving a deep scar. After escaping with Lokyan, the Drell asked for his name, and Gaijin had nothing to tell him. After learning Japanese, he found a word that he felt defined him: Gaijin, foreigner. He carries the basic Sukuu equipment, but completely eschews the Tanto for the Wakizashi

Kawara Yokaze: Kawara started life as many Asari did, living in luxury on Thessia. That lasted for twenty years. At age twenty, her parents died in a freak accident and she was sent to live with her aunt, who had a terrible gambling habit. When she was gearing up to depart on her Maiden Stage voyage across Citadel Space, the aunt arranged for her to be kidnapped and taken into slavery to pay off a debt. She spent over a hundred years as a sex slave before becoming a concubine as she began her matron stage. She was forced to use her biotics to entertain visitors to her master's domain. These would later be adapted to create the 'Night Mist' the Yokaze clan is known for. When Lokyan freed her and all the other slaves, she joined his crew, bringing a good deal of Asari with her. As a Matriarch that had spent over 700 years bouncing from master to master, she endeavoured to pay back the kindness of Lokyan, and became the first Yokaze ninja.

Teranus Shikaeshi: Teranus was once a military captain rising through the ranks of the Hierarchy, Teranus was disgraced after his father was caught selling Turian secrets to the Batarians using Teranus' access codes. Stripped of his rank and exiled, Teranus was eventually enslaved and forced to become a gladiatorial combatant, his muscles augmented for greater strength and durability via a highly painful and highly illegal process known as 'juicing', combining cybernetic implants and a chemical that strengthens muscle tissue. This form of juicing led to a psychological breakdown common in what is known as 'Gen 1 Juicers', which leads them to be bloodthirsty and prone to outbursts of anger. After being freed and treated using Katanask Technology's state of the art medical division, Juicing was reverse engineered into a much safer form, and Teranus and the Gen 1 Juicers were cured of this state, though they are still more violent than usual. The new 'juice' used by newer Shikaeshi do not suffer from these side-effects, yet are still much stronger that normal.

From this day forth, the user 'Talkman12' is no longer welcome, due to rudeness, poor sportsmanship, and all around jackassery. I hate banning people, and this comes after a week of trying to reach peaceful solutions. The majority of, no, all users here are great storytellers in their own right, and I will not allow one person to stifle creativity so he can swing around his E-****. We will reassign or remove Talkman's characters as needed, and look for a new DM for his campaign.

Anyone that wants to lay claim to one of his characters for Terrors should reply here, Edward Vane will be taken care of.

RP(Main) / Pirate Campaign
« on: December 11, 2013, 09:33:53 pm »
Aboard the bridge of a certain Amonkira, Lokyan peered out over his planet, or at least the Planet he'd wanted to own. The slaving Hanar bastard, Analdrun, had stymied his efforts. He had a fleet of ex-slaves of all races, all of whom had families, until this planet had come along. It was in the perfect place to be a Pirate Stronghold, with plenty of resources and decent proximity to prime raiding grounds. Unfortunately, Analdrun had come to the same conclusion, and the two captains had duked it out for control. As sod's law would dictate, their little war would grind to a standstill until they were forced to come to an alliance.

"Hyun, what's our favourite sushi entree up to?" He asked, seemingly to the air.

"Nothing much," came the reply. "The filthy pervert's still smuggling in sex slaves, and making eunuchs out of the males. Disgusting." She spat.

Lokyan hadn't really heard or seen her, she'd just arrived on time. The woman was damn near a ghost when she wanted to be. "Very well." He sighed. "Have our spies keep their eyes open, when we see an opening, we strike. And we free every slave in that Jellyfish's compound."

"はい、キャプテン(Hai, Kyaputen.)" Came her response as she left, her twin blades clinking as she moved this time, a concession for her superiour, and her husband.

Lokyan nodded as the console before him beeped with an incoming transmission from the planet. "Of course..." he grumbled.

Character Creation / Lokyan and Hyun Katanask
« on: December 10, 2013, 06:03:20 pm »
Full name of Character: Lokyan

Race: Drell

Gender: Male

Social class: Freedom Fighter / Terrorist / Pirate

Class: Infiltrator

Physical Appearance: He wears a heavy blue longcoat, with black armour underneath. The coat is reinforced to withstand explosives and small-arms fire.

Age: 32 (2197)

Eye Color: DRELL EYES

Hair color length and style: N/A

Skin tone and type: Blue and scaly, with black marks beneath the chin and one long stripe going down his 'scalp'

Distinguishing marks: The webbing on his hands has been cut.

Personality: A deadly serious demeanour hides a playful centre, backed up by a quick mind.

Greatest Strength: Incredibly thorough knowledge of explosives and chemistry.

Greatest Weakness: Idealist.

Soft spot: Drell enslavement, Hyun.

Biggest Vulnerability: Massive hatred of Hanar.

Personal History(what affects them): Wanted dead in most of Hanar Space, Lokyan is a rare example of the Drell race, after the death of his parents, he and his brothers were forced into the assassin's organization. After escaping the compound, he was caught and returned by his Hanar handlers, who cut his finger-webbing, a near crippling blow to most Drell, he recovered and regained complete mobility in his hands, only to escape once more. He sees the Compact as little better than slavery, with the Hanar forcing the Drell into early graves with heavy exposure to moisture without proper equipment, killing them with Kepral's syndrome. Abandoning his family name and scrubbing himself from the Hanar databanks, Lokyan led a crusade against the government with likeminded individuals, demanding his people be freed. The Hanar government denies his existence while Citadel Races are in the room, despite his crusade ending when a surprise attack killed his small team. His greatest attack on the Hanar was the release of a weaponized dehydrator used in a major Hanar city. The dehydrator caused Hanar to shrivel up and die, while making the area extremely habitable for the Drell. His Eidetic memory has led him to be an extremely capable demolitionist, as he memorizes every weak spot in a structure, every mild idiosyncrasy within his toolkit. The last time he saw his brothers was during the release of the dehydrator, where they were tasked to stop him. Needless to say, two of his three brothers did not survive the engagement. The third escaped by leaving the second to die. Gaining the moniker 'Blue Death', he joined a larger organization, where he disappeared for a few years. He reappeared as a pirate, with a Japanese Human named Hyun Katanask as his first-mate, and a much larger cadre of Drell and other races at his back. As is the style for dueling pirates, Lokyan carries a one-handed English Dueling sword for close-quarters engagements, along with several types of explosives and a Paladin modified for faster fire rate and a lighter recoil.

Traits:

Optimist or pessimist? Optimist

Introvert or extrovert? Extrovert

Drives and motives: Freedom of his people.

Talents: Making many booms.

Character flaws: Can become consumed by his ideals.

She had just about broken through the encryption before she was caught, and the businessman, recognizing her talents, offered her a Job as a technician for his research department. Not long after, she disappeared, believed to have joined the same organization as Lokyan, as she was next seen fighting alongside him. She carries a Locust SMG and a pair of Edo period Daisho (Literally Big-Little, a pair of long and short swords used by Samurai throughout Japan's Feudal Period) Reinforced with modern materials to make them near-unbreakable. She has been trained in the Shinobi Arts as well as Nitojutsu and Jujutsu. Prefers her native tongue when possible. Merri's family was rich(for Quarians), and as such, she left for her pilgrimage early, at the same time as her older sister,  to prove that she didn't need their influence to be successful. That was until she reached Omega. While there, she was seperated from her sister and met another Quarian plying his trade as a magician, and after meeting him, she was starstruck. Still, seeking a pilgrimage gift, she encountered a doctor that proclaimed that he could 'cure' the Quarian immune system. Intrigued, Merri went along with him, only to realize that it was an incredibly risky procedure with a 99% failure rate. When she tried to leave, the doctor took her captive and tried to begin the procedure. That was until Zo'Zixx appeared. The Magician had been keeping an ear out for the Doctor's practice, and Merri had been the last lead he needed. He destroyed the Doctor's practice and rescued all of the captives, except Merri's sister. Who died shortly before his arrival. Merri still does not know what happened to her sister. He occasionally has flashes of fighting Krogan on a less-ruined Tuchanka, sometimes fighting Rachni, sometimes Turians. All he knows is that he looked different then. His skullplate was green, and his skin brown. As such, he has attached himself to Zo and Merri's troupe, sometimes serving as a volunteer for acts, sometimes as a bodyguard, but mostly as a stagehand. He met Zo at about the same time the Quarian met Merri, and was instrumental in taking down the Doctor. The Story Board. / The Dragonrider. [Story]
« on: December 08, 2013, 10:10:49 pm »
The massive fireball rocketed through the Palaven sky, seemingly on a collision course with the crowd gasping below. At the last moment, it swung upwards, manifesting into a massive, serpentine Dragon. The fiery monster roared, spewing more fire into the air. "Down boy!" A voice rang out, and the creature span and writhed, trying to buck off the small speck that clung to its back, despite the fact that it was on fire. It carved amazing geometric patterns into the air, to the cheers from the crowd, before dive bombing into the stage and exploding, sending fireworks zooming into the air and exploding themselves. As the flames on the stage dissipated, A Quarian was revealed, clad in black with fiery red decals. He took a bow as the curtains fell to thunderous applause.

Backstage, Zo'Zixx rubbed his neck as he walked towards Merri'Za and Kogath, the oldest members of his troupe. The Krogan barked out a laugh, then slapped the magician on the back. "Well done, little one!" he smiled. "You looked like a thresher wrangler up there."

"I do my best to impress." He said with a smile, brushing at burns on the suit's fabric. "Though I think we should take better atmospheric readings next time, there was a lot more Hydrogen in the air than we were prepared for."

"That's why I told you not to do the Dragon!" Merri cried out, her red and white suit was Vibrant by Quarian Standards, but rather dull next to her boss'. "We put on this Charity Event at the last minute, and I specifically told you not to do the Dragonrider!" beneath her mask she was blushing, but unlike her boss, her helmet was opaque.

"Hey, I thought the Turian War Orphans needed money." He said with a shrug. "That display should have loosened quite a few wallets. And it's strange that you worry about me, Merri. I remember when I had to worry about you." he began to walk back to his 'trailer' for lack of a better word. An overly large shuttle filled with costume changes and tinkering tools. "Oh, and call up the Insteenos on the Citadel? I think I need a new flame-suit, with stronger flame resistance this time." he called over his shoulder.

"Hard to imagine where we used to be, isn't it?" Kogath said when the Magician left.

"That it is." Merri replied. "I don't think he's grown up at all though."

"Is that why you haven't told him yet?" The Krogan said, prodding.

"Shut up Kogath!" She yelled, the blush returning to her face.

"I can tell you're blushing under there you know." He said with a smile. "And you might want to try asking him, before his 'backstage pass' numbers reach quadruple digits."

Merri walked off in a huff. Neither of them have changed, not in the least.

Personal History(what affects them): Zo was 13 when the Reaper War tore apart the galaxy, and it was that war the drove him against joining the military, as was his initial plans. Before shipping off to war, his parents left him in the care of some family friends on a human outpost, but they died before Rannoch could be retaken. Due to the death of both of his parents, he was not with the fleet when it retook Rannoch, instead remaining at the small human outpost. Instead, following the war he heard of the ancient human illusionist named Houdini and put his developing biotic talents towards becoming a magician. He started small, keeping his biotics a secret (it is still unknown by the majority of the galaxy) until an eventual lucky break catapulted him into the spotlight, with gigs around the universe and quite a lot of credits. He doesn't perform very often these days, preferring clients that can pay his exorbitant fees, or charity events on occasion. With his military background, Zo learned how to use his father's service pistol at a young age, and still regularly practices with it at the council's many civilian firing ranges. While he's not the best shot, he's good enough to have used it in several performances, with no injuries to himself or others(Yet.).

Traits:

Optimist or pessimist? Optimist

Introvert or extrovert? Extrovert

Drives and motives: To entertain and make a lot of money.

Talents: Using his own technique to create fire with biotics, using dark energy to vibrate molecules at extreme speeds. He can also create powerful barriers, as they are needed to guarantee safety when working with biotic fires.

Character flaws: Very conceited and overly sure of himself. Often gets in over his head if he smells adventure.
