"Don't worry about that, I have this covered." South opened his briefcase and pulled out an oxygen mask. "This should suffice." he said, putting it on over his mouth. Once he had tested his mask he closed up his briefcase again.

Kat laughed. "Well that's one way to do it." she smiled at South, "Now let's get going before we meet a Quarian that wants to take you to bed." she added, activating the Tram and sending them hurtling towards the ruined city.

As the tram rocketed towards the ruins, South turned to Kat. "I understand why ExoGeni would want to have Doctors and archaeologists, but why would they want a prosthetics technician?"

Kat shrugged. "No idea. Maybe they needed some redshirts, or just someone to laugh at."

Heinrich hadn't even realized someone was in the room with him until the door hissed closed from the autopsy room. He blinked at the noise, looking around to find it empty once more. He shrugged, returning to his work over the bipedal form.

"Brain tissue is very dissimilar from any brain matter found in other forms of life. First off it is far too small to need a cranium of this size, the anterior pituitary gland takes up the most room at the base of the skull. The remaining bits are more related to instinctual and physical aspects, reducing the thinking ability to nearly nil. The frontal lobe is the second largest piece, meaning sight, fight or flight, smell, touch and hearing are all very in tune." He paused for a minute in his recording, moving the matter gently to the side to get a better look at the eyes.

"Eyeballs seem to be enhanced as well, leading to great night vision and possibly infrared. Heat would likely be sensed via the thermo sensitive pits on either side of the eyes."

Stepping onto the platform, Ilste noticed a tram pulling into the station. Rather convenient. Connecting his omnitool to the network, he sent out the map of the small building he was using for storage to others for their own starting point in the sector.

"Time to take a walk."  Max said as he stood in front of Tobias' cell along with 4 shotgun toting pirates.

"Really?  So soon?  I was actually thinking of redecorating the place and installing a few windows...."

"Let's go..."  The brig door slid open.  Max's voice was deadpan.  He shoved Tobias down the hallway as the four crew members followed, their guns pointed at Tobias' back.  A few moments later and they were at the door to the escape pod.

"So I guess you found a planet.  Is it nice?  Got any beaches?"  Tobias spoke as he was shoved into the pod.

"Damned if I know.  It's a planet, it has oxygen, it's habitable, and most importantly, its not here."  Max retorted.

"I don't suppose I get a care package?"

"I'm giving you your Carnifex with one round.  And you know what, here is your stupid sword.  I'm half hoping you miss shooting yourself in the head and wind up having to impale yourself on that thing to end your misery."

"Why thank you.  Always so touching Max...Would you mind if I had the hat too?  For sentimental reasons?"

"You know what, I don't even want your stupid hat."  Max tossed the thing into the escape pod.  Tobias picked it up off the ground, dusted it off, and placed it back upon his head.

"Well I suppose this is it, gentleman."  Tobias began.

"Yes." Max was still emotionless.  He was too damn tired.

"Do I get any last requests?"  Tobias asked

"No."  And before the conversation could continue further, Max slammed the door to the pod shut and launched it into space.

Tobias had a seat as the pod crashed through the atmosphere.  He could see the spurts of flames streaking across his small port hole.  This wasn't his first ride in an escape pod.  And if he had any say, it wouldn't be his last.  The flames soon faded, and Tobias took the time to see the lay of the land.  He was several tens of thousands of feet in the air, but he could see the mountains and valleys and...a city.  Max aimed to strand him with no way off the planet.  So did he completely miss an entire city?   It wasn't long before the city disappeared behind a mountain.  The landing thrusters of the pod fired, and Tobias was launched back into his seat.  A moment later he was kicking the door to the pod open and stepping out onto the rocky terrain.

Tobias took a deep breath in "Well at least it doesn't smell like ****."  He secured Kara, his M-6 Carnifex, and his sword.  He adjusted his hat, brushed off his long brown coat, and made sure his testicles were still intact.  "Everything seems to be in order."  And with that he took off walking in the direction of the city he saw from the sky.

"One bullet...What a dick."

Kat had once again donned her Omni-glasses, a gift from one of her old 'boyfriends' that still came in handy for matters both medical and domestic. As the Tram pulled into station, she saw Sal waiting and heard the beep as her glasses highlighted a building in the distance.

As she stepped out, South in tow, she mocked surprise. "Why Sally, a welcome mat, for moi?" She chuckled" what'd you dig up?"

"Not much. Building with no biological remains found, small hole in the wall. I'd say from an explosion, but I didn't see much debris outside the building. I've marked it on the map in sector two, thinking about storage while we're in the area. Did find some unusual metal alloys, thought I'd bring them to the lab and get some batteries to keep everything running in the area. What about you? You ran off like a cat after a mouse, you get something good?"

"Oh you bet your ass." Kat smiled. "We've found some mummified remains on this planet, it's obvious that something destroyed this place, and we may have found out what. It's not Reapers, not unless they changed their MO for this planet, but we may have a new form of Prothean mummified down in the Med-Lab. The top-doc seems to think it's a Thorian, but the more I think about it, I don't buy it. This place is a desert, no way a plant of that size could survive."

South piped up. "I still haven't figured out why I'm here though. No one has needed me to install any limbs yet. Or figure out Prothean wiring."

"Well, plants are known for phenotypic plasticity. Assuming that there is a Thorian, and  Thorians are spread from an original source, it's possible that whatever traits exist within the plant allow for radical changes in order to survive. Or perhaps the planet was not always a desert. After all, cities are often built near a water source, perhaps we should look for dried riverbeds outside the city." Turning to South, "As for the prosthetics, I'm not sure. Is the lead scientist heavily augmented, or is there a lab meant for you to work on building them?"

"Excuse me." A tall Salarian, grey and poised, approached the small cluster of humanoids. He came up into the circle, and regarded each of them with individual disdain, harsh eyes hovering on each of their faces for a long moment."Are you three the new arrivals?"
